At the end of last year, on 7 December 2016, the Satya Wacana Christian University (SWCU) Health Faculty, which has now changed its name to become the Medicine and Health Faculty (FKIK), officially entered its first decade. Various activities were held by the faculty in remembrance of its anniversary.
As a pinnacle of the event, a Thanksgiving Service and 10th Anniversary Celebration of the Medicine and Health Faculty were held at the University Hall. The FIK Dean, Ir. Ferry F. Karwur, M.Sc. Ph.D, expressed his gratitude for this faculty entering its 10th year. At first, this faculty only had one study program, but now it has five study programs.
The service and anniversary celebration were celebrated with staff, lecturers, and university students in the form of vocal and dance artistic performances. In addition, there were also five ethnic foods presented as a symbol of a Mini Indonesia. The event was closed with cutting a tumpeng (cone-shaped rice) by the Vice Rector I and the FIK Dean. It was then handed out to staff, lecturers, university students, and alumni.
In the same occasion, there was also a book launching of two books. One book was “Tantangan Tanggapan Kesehatan di Indonesia”, which was written by a SWCU FIK staff member in anticipation of the 10th anniversary of FKIK. Meanwhile, the second book was “Binaus, the Face of a Timor Village in the XXI Century”. The Binaus book is the result of research by FIK staff in coordination with university students who conducted research in Binaus Village, Central Molo Sub-District, South Central Timor Regency, East Nusa Tenggara. In this occasion, the Head of Binaus Village, Nahor Tasekeb, also attended the event, as he received a Binaus book directly from the SWCU Rector.
Several activities also colored the anniversary remembrance of FKIK, including a national seminar called “Strengthening the Existence of Health Knowledge in Indonesia through Knowledge Innovation and Technology that Have a Global Impact”. This seminar presented other speakers like Prof. Dr. Djoko Pekik Irianti, M.Kes, who presented the topic “Sports Science for Sports Achievements”; Prof. (Em) Dr. Sukirman, who presented a paper called “The Double Burden of Nutrition Problems”; Dr. Untung Sujianto, S.Kep, M.Kes, who presented a paper titled “The Role of AIPNI in Increasing Indonesia Nursing Education Organization Researcher Competitiveness on an International Level”; and Ir. Thomas Darmawan, who presented the title “Challenges of Indonesia’s Food Innovations”.
In coordination with the SWCU FIK University Student Senate, there was also a “Fit and Fun” activity held. Aerobics and a healthy breakfast were conducted with mung bean porridge and various kinds of cake to celebrate the event that was held at the SWCU soccer field.
